House Calls for Small Animal (Dogs/Cats) are available within 30 minutes drive from the office in McDowell and Burke Counties during routine business hours. The current farm call fee is $60 for these areas, plus the exam, services, medications.
Farm Calls for Equine and Livestock are based on mileage from our office and range $60-$140. We service the following counties if within 45 miles and under 1 hour drive from our office: McDowell, Burke, Rutherford, Cleveland, Polk, Caldwell, Mitchell, Yancey, Avery, and Buncombe.
After-Hours, Weekend, Holiday
After-hours and weekend emergency service is only provided for established horse and livestock clients. Please call the office and listen to the recording for instructions. The small animal (dogs/cats) service is not staffed after hours. Please click here for local small animal emergency clinics.
- We do not accept new patients on an emergency basis outside of business hours.
- Emergency travel and service fees are higher than routine visits – please ask for an estimate as payment is required at service. Cash, check, credit card, and care credit are accepted.
- Smaller livestock – sheep, goats, pet pigs – will only be seen at the clinic after-hours.
- Equine and cattle may be hauled to our clinic to save the higher travel expense.
There is one large animal veterinarian on call after-hours during the week, on weekends, and holidays. Our practice shares emergency duty with the providers at Henry River Mobile Veterinary service in Hickory, NC.
